The titles of Gautham Menon’s films are taken from lyrics of popular songs usually. Now, a short film’s title has been taken from a Gautham Menon movie.
The YouTube description for the short film, Yeno Vaanilai Maaruthey, starring Arun Prasath and Nakshathra Nagesh in the lead, states that it’s a common and commercial love story. True to its description, the film is a story of a man falling in love and making the woman fall in love with him (just the way we’ve seen in numerous, run-of-the-mill Tamil films).
Frankly, I have never seen a woman falling in love with a man just because he follows her every day. Short and feature filmmakers need to understand that that’s not how love works!
Still, Yeno Vaanilai Maaruthey has amassed nearly 9,50,000 views in less than a week. The numbers are certainly good, but it’d be great if future ‘common and commercial love stories’ have better plot points.
