Last year, Y-Films – the youth wing of Yash Raj Films (YRF) – made a huge impact in the booming ‘Indian web series space’ with their 5-episode original series Bang Baaja Baaraat. With high production values, great performances and top-notch writing, the rom-com web series – centered around a destination wedding – went on to become a huge hit among the internet audience.
No wonder fans have been eagerly-waiting for an update on a possible second season for the show. Well, here’s some good news on that front.
Director of Bang Baaja Baraat, Anand Tiwari, has confirmed that Season 2 of the show is “very much on the cards” and is currently at the scripting stage. During an exclusive interview with TubeScoop, when asked about the second season for the hit YRF web series, Tiwari said:
“It’s very much on the cards. We’re in the middle of writing it. At the moment, the three writers – Sumeet (Vyas), Amrit (Amritpal Bindra) and I – have kind of agreed to disagree for a bit on which direction the show will take. Because there are two very strong possibilities from where we left off. So, we’re just munching our way into taking the right direction between the two.”
And that’s not all, Tiwari also promised another exciting web series with YRF, which is currently in development and will release later this year.
“We’re doing another web series with YRF which has got nothing to do with Bang Baaja. Very soon we will talk about it.”
Starring Ali Fazal and Angira Dhar in lead roles, Bang Baaja Baaraat Season 1 released on the official Y-Films YouTube channel in November 2015. You can click here to watch all the episodes.
